The Golden Bloggerz Award

The Golden Bloggerz Award
Created by Suchita Senthil Kumar, with Canva

Many thanks to Lindsey for nominating me for this award. Was having a particularly nasty day with everything happening around us and this nomination was a little ray of sunshine.

Lindsey is a blogger from Yorkshire and her blog is your place to go to for insights on lifestyle, beauty and books. I'd love for you to check out her award post as well.

My sincere thanks to the creators of The Golden Bloggerz Award for this opportunity of peer-nomination, getting to know other bloggers and to speak about myself and my work.

Three Things About Me

I enjoy reading - Classics. And newly published authors (even better if they're self-published). You see the range there. It's either books from way back in the 1800s or books that were published yesterday. There's no in between.

I love eating red sorrel leaves - well, not the plain leaf. I love having them cooked. Whether it's beated into a paste, or if it's in a gravy- I just love it. I should probably try having them raw to see if I like it.

I love learning new languages - there's something very appealing about learning new langauges. I also love the spark in someone's eyes when I speak to them in their native langauge (even if I was terrible) and that's something I live for. I speak 6 langauges and am moderately fluent. I know broken bits of five others. I'm hoping to get better at them.

My Answers

1- What is the one thing you want to achieve before you die?

There's so much I want to do before I die. But if I had to choose one thing, it would be telling a story that people will never forget.

2- If you could have a free lifetime supply of something, what would it be?

Books. But that's being selfish I think. And unfair on all of the authors whose books I might read for free. But I can't think of anything else I might want for a lifetime.

3- What is your dream job?

To be a farmer. I come from a family of farmers and it would be great to carry ahead what my parents and grandparents may have forgotten behind in the hurry of being educated.

4- What or who would you come back as in the next life?

Hopefully, myself. I'd like to be able to see the world in the next life through my own eyes again. It sounds awfully narcissistic but to be able to see the world with new eyes all over again is something I'd die for.

5- What one thing always make you smile?

Little children. They're so innocent, and sometimes not and yet it's all very adorable. There are no words for how happy I feel when a little child waves at me, or smiles at me, or even simply looks at me calculatively. I love them all.

I Nominate

Along with the nomination, I've also decided to share one post from their blog that liked reading (you need not do the same, I just chose to do this 🙂)

  1. Allison at The Nutmeg Diaries - one of my favourite posts of hers is this one where she talks about supporting small businesses.

  2. Beth Carrol at Books By Beth - my favourite post was Know thy Character- Scott where she talks about a character, Scott, from her novel The Secret Keeper.

  3. Laura Thornberry - I read her post How Important Is Your Smile? a while back when I was having a particularly nasty day. Gave me the heart to smile a little more.

  4. Rana Heals - I loved reading these blogposts because they're all so self-revealing and allowed me to think about who I really was. My favourite has to be this one about inner peace.

  5. Amy Marshment - I'm always up for reading underrated books and am overwhelmed with how there's so much talent that goes unrecognised. In this post she shares 5 classic underated books and all these books are now in my Want To Read list.

  6. Baayultales - I found this post on dogs and cats very relatable as someone who loves them but is scared of them as well. There were other pieces of creative writing that were lovely to read.

  7. Katie at Life With Ktkinnes - Among all the posts from Life With Ktkiness, I liked reading this one. Being in a similar situation now in India with the pandemic, this gave me the feeling of not being alone and I found some heart in going on about my day when I read it.

  8. Joana Gracio at Live out Loud Too! - She also has an e-book, The One That Got Away and other stories. One post that I will never forget will be, Papercuts, the one she wrote about being an immigrant in the United States. It moved me so much more than I can express.

  9. Kayleigh Zara - I'm stepping aside from posts and taking this space to thank her for products on gumroad about blogging. I've read the e-book about pinterest and have the pinterest templates she gave away too. I found them very helpful and here's where you can check out her blogging guides.

  10. Kord Blog - I find this super helpful for myself personally. The Kord Blog is a blog about technology, lifestyle and education. I remember reading one post about powerpoint templates and it has been helpful for school ever since. I recently saw this post about a paper game to play and that's what I'm going to be playing on my birthday this week too.

My Questions to the Nominees

  1. When did you first start writing?

  2. What was the last book you read? Did you like it?

  3. What is the best thing that's happened to you this year?

  4. If you met your school-going-self, what is the one advice you would tell yourself?

  5. What kind of stories do you like reading/listening to/watching?

My Best Posts

I didn't know which criteria I should be using to pick my best posts so I chose three, each on a different basis.

  1. Chance Encounters - this isn't exactly a blogpost, it's more of a travel narrative. It's the post on my blog with most views so thought I'd mention it here.

  2. Excerpts from Bharathiyar's Poetry that Empower You - this I'm listing under my best because I've had people comment and text me saying they found it very inspirational. It's about the only post that has had that response.

  3. The Ultimate Guide to Find Writing Inspiration - this post has my heart and my head put into it. I wrote down every little thing I do for finding writing inspiration in this post and I rarely ever find myself hit by writer's block so that's saying something. I hope it helped anyone (or will help in the future).

And that's a wrap. I'd like to thank Lindsey once again for the nomination, for those lovely questions that I could answer and for the opportunity of asking and tagging other bloggers that I admire and think deserve the recognition.
